Park Site Plan for West Case Park
After wrapping up the Vision Plan in 2023, the design team has been hard at work developing the Park Site Plan. The Park Site Plan expands upon the work done in the Vision Plan, adjusting the layout and program to account for the detailed site conditions. View the plan and learn more below.
About the Plan
The Park Site Plan for West Case Park features an organic, meandering layout that reflects the site’s agricultural heritage. The design incorporates a primary entry drive from the west and a secondary entry drive from the east, creating a functional “front yard” and ensuring convenient access to the park’s wide range of amenities. This dual-entry system improves overall circulation by establishing a main entrance for park users and a secondary entrance for Forestry staff and overflow traffic. Planned improvements to West Case Road will further support safe, convenient access while maintaining efficient traffic flow within the public right-of-way.
Architectural enhancements are concentrated along West Case Road. The historic farmhouse will be preserved in place, and the existing silos will be retained and paired with a new event building. A new northwest outpost for the Forestry Department will be constructed in the northeast corner of the site, expanding the Department’s operational reach and supporting the goals of the recently completed Urban Forestry Master Plan.
On-site ecological improvements include the preservation and enhancement of existing wetlands with native plantings. Invasive vegetation will be removed and replaced with native meadow, while discreetly integrated stormwater basins will collect and manage runoff to reduce downstream impacts. These stormwater features also become part of the visitor experience through pedestrian and bike trails, wildlife observation shelters, and outdoor education areas woven throughout the landscape.
At the center of the site, a multi-purpose field is designed to accommodate two full-sized soccer fields or provide ample space for picnicking and passive recreation. Along the loop road, flexible community gathering areas and sports courts offer diverse recreational opportunities. Along the eastern edge of the lawn, rentable shelters provide small community gathering spaces. Surrounding native meadows preserve the site’s character, support wildlife habitat, and create a gentle buffer between park activities and the adjacent neighborhood. Mown meadow paths and paved trails provide accessible routes through the landscape and connect visitors to the natural play area located in the southwest corner of the park.

Silo Plaza
The Event Center’s Silo Plaza offers a distinctive setting for outdoor gatherings. Large garage doors open directly from the Event Center into the plaza, allowing guests to enjoy seamless indoor–outdoor events. Overhead string lighting adds warmth and atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience. The site’s original concrete silos have been preserved and will be surrounded by native Ohio meadow plantings, creating a memorable backdrop for community events.
